Shuttle X500V – The New Victims Of The Size Zero Phenomenon

thumbnail
Good news for all the fans of the all-in-on PC range. Shuttle has launched its new X500V and the whole machine measures hardly 3.6 cms. It’s a touchscreen which is like the latest trend in vogue, even for computers. Unlike the others in the X500 range this comes preloaded with a different OS i.e. Linux or the openSUSE 11.1to be precise. This latest Linux offering from the company comes in two colours black and pearl white along with the not so uncommon Intel Atom 330 processors, 1 GB DDR2 memory, a 160 GB hard disk and has a 15.6-inch touchscreen (with a resolution of 1366x768). And yeah it does have the same old speakers and wecam and 1.3 megapixel camera.

Of what we ve got to know, the unit comes with a Gigabit Ethernet port along with a 802.11n WiFi along 5 USB ports and 1 VGA port.

Transparent Screens – No Longer Stuff Of Which Fairytales Are Made Up Of

thumbnail
Well if LG could come up with transparent keypad with the LG crystal, then Sony could possibly just not stay behind in the race and it has announced the launch of the Sony Experia Pureness with a transparent screen. Now if that’s not innovative technology at its best then what is?? It is being launched in conjunction to the concept of “ talk, time, text- a holiday from technology.” Not that no one thought of this concept earlier, but Sony is surely the first one to implement it. It was codenamed as ‘kiki’ in the beginning and most of the people never expected it too turn into reality some day. But diminishing all the beliefs here it is… the ‘kiki’ rechristened as Sony Xperia Pureness. It’s a simple design phone with not much of the usual razzle-dazzle except for an headturning transparent screen. According to the makers of the phone, this one concentrates more on the art part than the technology. But of what we know, users normally prefer performance  [...]

Review Of The Logitech Performance Mouse MX

thumbnail
All this while I was blabbering about the design which I am sure sent a few tongues wagging already, but the best part about the Logitech Performance MX is its Darkfield sensor. Now coming to what it is…. Since ages, cursor controllers have dabbled around with the idea of moving the mouse over transparent surfaces, and finally this has been achieved all thanks to Logitech. Now if that isn’t innovation what is?? Though Microsoft had earlier come up with its Blue track sensor which lets you mouse through irregular surfaces, cloth etc, this  one from Logitech definitely added something more to the already existing set of features with its Dark-field sensor. The only surface that the Blue track sensor could not track are the transparent surfaces and that’s exactly where Logitech put its money and time  in and invented this absolute masterpiece. I tried testing both the mice on most of the surfaces that the Blue track sensor tracked on and both the mice performed equally well.  [...]

Review Of The Pharos Traveler GPS 137 Cell Phone

thumbnail
The Pharos comes along with the Spb Mobile Shell 3.0, which contains information in a more user-friendly and attractive interface. The Spb mobile has three sliding panels : the center panel and default home screen, feature the calendar, messages, time, weather, etc. while sliding the touch screen to the left, brings up an Application panel, while the right panel offers your multimedia features. At the bottom of all panels, you get a one-touch access to a favorites page, contact list, a few other settings, as well as a button that lets you scroll through more panels in a 3D round-about view. The Pharos Traveler 137 features an onscreen portrait and landscape QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is a bit stuffed in the portrait mode, but the included stylus can be used for more precision. The traveler 137 features a built-in accelerometer or a G-sensor which automatically switches from portrait to landscape mode when you turn the phone around. But the accelerometer wasn’t up to the mark,  [...]

Batman: Arkham Asylum – The Doors Of Arkham Are Open Again

thumbnail
Well, there would be hardly anyone who has not heard about the Batman, but if you’re not into comics then surely you need to know what the Arkham Asylum is all about. This immortal psychiatric ward had housed most of the villains that Batman has ever come  across. And now this same psychiatric hospital is the background for some fantabulous third person action gaming. Moving ahead, if you are an ardent batman comic reader you will come across many familiar faces at the asylum and if you are not, no worries. This game has the history of every character related to it along with their motivations for being there. As far as the story is concerned, batman has captured joker and is being returned to the arkham asylum under the watchful eyes of the batman. Well, as always joker surely has something going on in his mind and seems to be least bothered by this imbroglio. Infact, he makes up a plan of a grand party at the asylum and voila… the guest of honour is none other than our hero batman.  [...]

Review Of The LG Tritan Cell Phone

thumbnail
Hmmm...the design part surely left me flabbergasted, and I should say the performance part didn’t leave me disappointed by any means either. I tried calling using the U.S roaming service and was highly taken aback by the awesome call quality which hardly displayed any amount of static. Plus, the caller was pretty much satisfied with the quality of the calls too, with very less background sound. The LG tritan is loaded with a decent music player which supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA file formats. I would recommend using headphones for better music playback and sound quality because the speakers aren’t actually that great. The 3-megapixel camera that the Tritan is adorned with was also pretty decent. The image quality, sharpness and the colour of the images was fabulous. The video camera is also not left far behind, though I would personally prefer it to shoot short videos. The LG has surely lived upto its untarnished image when it comes  [...]

Review Of The Samsung Glint SCH-u350 Cell Phone

thumbnail
Comparing it with the T239 this one has a 1000 entry phonebook as opposed to the t239’s 300 entry phonebook. You could assign each contact with a picture and a ringtone. Apart from the normal features that a basic phone offers this one has Bluetooth added to it which provides support for wireless headsets, hands-free kits, serial port, object push, and phone book access. As I mentioned earlier this one isn’t for you if you’re looking out for web browsing, especially considering its low resolution screen. I tried connecting to the web browser using the WAP browser, but I really had to squint my eyes to make out what was actually displayed on the screen. So it’s like a really bad option if you want to use this one for web browsing. All I could have asked of this phone was a 1.3 megapixel camera but here again I hardly had any option with the drab VGA camera which was provided. The images were below my satisfactory levels plus there were hardly  [...]

Review Of The Samsung SMX-F34 Camcorder

thumbnail
Hmm...Samsung has packed a lot of features in this water-bottle of theirs. With controls on top that include an ultra-sensitive zoom rocker, followed behind by a shutter release for capturing stills (though not while movies are being recorded), a mode button where movies, photos and playback are the options. The camcorder's battery compartment and SDHC card slot are behind a sliding door on the bottom. To the left of the screen are a Menu button, a four-way directional pad and a select button, and a record button. The zoom can be controlled using the pad too. The LCD cavity reveals three more buttons: iCheck, LCD Enhancer, and Easy Q. With the power off, the iCheck button gives you an onscreen readout of remaining battery life and storage; with the power on it toggles on and off information on the display. The LCD Enhancer improves contrast and brightness of the display for better visibility. On pressing the Easy Q you enter into a fully automatic mode where you deal with what you get.
