Bing 2.0 Goes The Graphic Way

thumbnail
A picture often says more than what words can express, and that is exactly the idea behind the launch of the new Visual search Engine from Bing. At the TechCrunch50 senior Vice president of  Microsoft Yusuf Mehdi announced the launch of a new visual search feature with Bing2.0 which gives the results in the form of  an image gallery. Supposing you want to search for the variety of flowers then it pops up the images of the various flowers and all you have to do is click on the picture and view the related details. When you move the cursor over the image the name of the flower gets flashed into the search box. Also the image results can be sorted according to size, colour and bing popularity. The database has loads and loads of such image galleries which have been categorically arranged. According to the type of search the sorting categories also change. So incase you want to browse through cars then the sorting would take place according to release date, company  [...]

The Google Visual Newsstand…

thumbnail
Somewhere around mid-  June the buzz doing the rounds was that Google was launching its visual way to search Google news called the ‘Flipper’. Yesterday at the TechCrunch 50 conference, Marrisa Mayer launched the product officially by the name ‘Fast Flip’. This is almost similar to flipping through newspapers at a news stand. In this case the user gets to view the pictures of the actual articles and after clicking on it the user can read the whole article. Initially the images are a bit puny but the user can easily zoom it by clicking on it. The idea behind the name is that the user can browse through the  images and select which one he wants to read and flip over the ones he doesn’t want to view and move ahead. It hardly takes a matter of seconds and thus the name ‘Fast flip’ is apt enough. Like on facebook, the user can like any article by clicking on the smiley icon below it and also the articles can be mailed  [...]

thumbnail
This ones for all the Ferrari fanatics… netbook Czar Acer announced the launch of the new Acer Ferrari one netbook at a high profile launch event at every racers paradise- the Ferrari’s very own Monza race track. This one is a quite a competent make coming from the Acer stable and is also priced quite reasonably at $393. The launch would most probably take place in October. It comes loaded with a dual-core AMD Athlon X2 L310 1.2GHz CPU and 2GB of memory, along with an 11.6 inch screen with a pixel resolution of  1366 x 768. We assume that this one would have some really great graphics to offer with the ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU graphics card. Being a Ferrari one this one has the prancing horse on its back along with a spattering of red. It also packs in some hard punches staying true to its name with a 250GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. Also this one would be the pioneer in using the dual-core processor  [...]

Review Of The Avanquest WebEasy 8 Professional

thumbnail
This one was probably the one, most of the web designers were actually waiting for. But for all that they know, this one surely wasn’t worth the wait. This could be viewed as being too confining by most of the users and also the editing of HTML in this one is pretty much knotty and complex. The templates that are being offered are rigid as well. Amateur users will surely not welcome this one because the interface is certainly not amateur friendly as many of the tools are pretty much difficult to locate in the first place, leave alone use them. The professional version brings along with it three months of hosting and also a free subdomain, though the platinum version would be a better choice because it offers a proper domain along with hosting for a year. It lets you add photos, music, video and change backgrounds and layouts and also an option to choose from around 85,000 graphics. Also it lets you add a few Web Widgets here and there like twitter and google links.  It also  [...]

Review Of The Samsung Rogue SCH-U960 Cell Phone

thumbnail
This one has a 1000 phonebook entry, world clock, calculator, stop watch, vibrate mode, sketchpad, timer, notepad, alarm clock and a calculator. This one could very aptly be called a messaging phone and it offers a nice variety of messaging features like e-mail options - mobile e-mail, corporate email, and mobile Web e-mail along with visual voice mail, mobile IM with AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo messenger support. Also this one comes loaded with the EV-DO Rev. A it supports the V Cast broadband services, like V Cast Video, and the V Cast Audio. One can easily download songs and listen to them when on the move. I was pretty much impressed with music player with an easy to use interface and nice categorizations of the tracks according to the artists, albms, genres etc. However I would recommend using headphones than blasting the music on the speakers because the speakers are not that great. Downloading web pages using the EV-DO Rev was also an easy task and it hardly ttook me  [...]

Review Of The Sony E-Series Walkman

thumbnail
Sony has always been known to bring out the best MP3 players at rock bottom price. With this one Sony has launched the latest 16 GB player at a price of $100 and the 80GB version is being offered at $80. It has compromised a bit on the styling and the design but it has retained the same battery life and audio quality. A look at the player and I was like “ nothings really new or innovative in this one.. atleast as far as the looks are concerned. Below the 2 inch screen there is a five way control pad, a menu button and a back/home button. At times the up arrow key is a bit difficult to press. Its got a standard 3.5mm headphone jack below it and the volume rocker has been placed on the right spine. Also the USB port is below the player next to the headphone jack. At 3.2 inches tall by 1.7 inches wide by 0.3 inch deep this one easily slips into the pocket and can easily be strapped to the waist band or to your armband. Along with the black version this one comes along in a blazing  [...]

HTC Hero Firmware Upgrade: U.K Will Have To Wait

thumbnail
I had mentioned earlier during the review, that this one could definitely do with some firmware upgrades, looks like the makers at High Tech Computers are listening with intent ears. HTC has announced the launch of a new firmware upgrade which claims to solve most of the problems that the Hero bought along wit it. Though the HTC hero was loaded with the brilliant Sense UI it did face some lags during functioning which was one of the major glitches because of which it was almost written off by most critics in comparision to the iPhone. The upgrades have already been launched in Denmark, Sweden and Norway and have received some really good reviews, with most of the users being content with the speed upgrades and the camera software upgrades. HTC has also confirmed the UK launch will take place sometime in the near future, however it hasn’t provided us with any exact date as such.  Also the people at HTC refused to let us have  [...]

LG GW620 – Joining In The Google Celebration

thumbnail
Well if Motorola can come up with its first Android phone, there are hardly any chances that LG would be left behind. So for all the ardent social networking fans, LG has announced the launch of its first Android baby- the GW620. This one was descried first at the IFA last week as the Etna KS360, and now it comes into the spotlight as the GW620. So in all probability this one is going to be launched in different places with different aliases. It’s probably going to be launched in the U.K somewhere during the fourth quarter of the year; however there is no buzz about its launch date in the other regions. This one is fully equipped with a lot of messaging features, a 3-inch touchscreen, QWERTY slide out keyboard, 5 meagpixel camera, and Wi-Fi and GPS connections. This one for sure will be a totally new experience for any first time touch screen user. Plus its just one of the many smartphones that  [...]

Orange : Broadband Back In Action

thumbnail
What started first at around 900 BST was finally put to an end after Orange took charge and got the problem fixed. On Thursday many broadband customers faced a sudden blackout which continued on for a few hours. A few blackberry users couldn’t access their emails as well and some of the other customers could not access the internet earlier during the day. According to the officials at Orange this took place because of some wreckage of critical cables. Many customers complained that it was quiet goofy for such a huge company which has around 1 million broadband customers in U.K to be hit by such a problem. However the officials at Orange haven’t clearly mentioned the root cause of the problem but they were quick enough to retort that the problem was fixed within a few hours of it being identified.

Off late, Orange mobile also announced that it would be merging its U.K business with T-mobile.

Zune HD: Exclusively For Uncle Sam

thumbnail
Zune HD which is going to be launched on September 15th will be an only U.S release. According to insiders from Microsoft, there are no plans to launch the Zune anywhere outside the U.S. The launch is going to be stateside atleast for the time being. There are also plans to launch the Zune video, a video download software in around 18 markets. Even when the Zune HD was not even named there were rumours that the new hardware would be international. But looking at the way things are taking shape at the moment, that seems unlikely. For those with a strong memory the older zune didn’t see a launch beyond Canada which took place almost two years after its launch in the U.S.

Well, the only reason I see behind this is that probably the people at Microsoft want to test the Zune on a small ground and then take the launch ahead if it is successful. Well all I hope is that this one does well, and we get to see an overseas launch soon.
