Atom declares war on Nvidia Ion

Atom has decided to lock horns with Nvidia Ion by bringing competition in the market with their own brand of chipsets with GPUs. The three processors (which come integrated with chipset) are named N450, D510 and D410 are expected to arrive in this month itself. These three promise to deliver better graphics apart from being faster and smaller.

Intel atom news

The speed of these processors is 1.66 GHz and there will be integrated Intel NM10 Express graphics chipset. Memory controller, CPU and GPU are all integrated in one and you can expect your Netbook size to reduce by 60%. Of the three chips, the D510 and D410 are aimed at HTPCs or nettops and N450 is aimed at Netbooks. The latter has a 512 kb L2 cache and 7 W of total TDP so there will be a significant rise in the battery life too.

The D410 also comes with the same 512kb L2 cache but the TDP is of 12W. Finally, the D510 is a dual-core based processor, has TDP of 15 W and has 1 MB L2 cache. Such chipsets are great for light gamming. We have already seen this in Nvidia Ion boards, you get respectable frame rates for games like Unreal Tournament III.

I like the confidence of Atom to be better than Nvidia but this will be effective only if Atom proves to be one.

This seems to be one of the future chipsets to be used but what is the price for it? Is it costly or cheap as compared to Nvidia.

Absolutely right! Nvidia cards are costly but its worth! these cards also should be worth and if it has the same price of Nvidia then people will prefer Nvidia.
