Samsung PL200 is a standard point and shoot digital camera and if you are expecting anything out of the box, you will be bitterly disappointed. The video quality here is of DVD quality and this is disappointing as the manufacturer claims that the device can shoot 720p HD videos. There will be plenty of judder if you pan this camera too quickly or if you shoot moving subjects. AV output here is composite only and you need proprietary cable for it that is not included in the box. Samsung PL200 comes with a few extra shooting options beyond the basic point and shoot use and it is made primarily for people who do not usually stray from the auto modes. Canon PowerShot G12 is quite similar to G11, its predecessor but the manufacturer has put in a few updates here like 720/24p video capture which was really needed and there is also miniHDMI and stereo audio. Just like S95, this camera has HDR scene mode which combines 3 shots. For this, you need to keep the tripod steady and this makes it only marginally useful. The image quality on the Canon PowerShot G12 is same as G11. The pictures look great in lowest ISO settings with excellent exposure and color. When you go beyond ISO 200, the details start degrading and pictures start getting overt and noisy at ISO 400 and above. The highest usable setting here is ISO 800. If you are really particular about quality, I won’t recommend you to go beyond ISO 200. The design of Panasonic Lumix ZS7 is quite similar to its predecessor, ZS3. The weight and size are about the same and I was impressed by the fact that the manufacturer packed is such great features in a compact chassis. There is also wide angle lens having 12x zoom. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 is a bit tight for a pants pocket but it will fit easily in small handbag or jacket pocket.
