Dell Inspiron 15 Review – Fast Core i5 processor

The newer laptops from Dell have all been really good and they are really fast too thanks to the Core i5 processor inside. Dell Inspiron 15 review model that the company sent in my labs has a lush widescreen which is not really big but still good for this class of notebooks. I also liked the glossy shell, it adds to the aesthetic appeal of the system. The price of this system is $934 and I would recommend it considering the features it offers for this price point. However, you need to be wary about a few things – the keyboard is uncomfortable and the hardware options could have been wider too.

My Dell Inspiron 15 review model had ‘Ice Blue’ finish which is seen a lot in other notebooks by this manufacturer. There are glossy areas which easily attract a lot of fingerprints but it doesn’t ruin the look of the laptop. The system is 15 inches by 9.8 inches by 0.8 inches and weighs about 5.5 pounds. The display is 15.6 inches big and this system isn’t really travel friendly but it is no a big monster either. On the left, there are HDMI, VGA and USB port along with Ethernet jack. The right side had DVD drive, 2 USB ports, headphone and microphone ports and memory card reader.

When I opened my Dell Inspiron 15 review model, I saw a keyboard that runs throughout the machine’s base. Apart from that keyboard, there is a touch pad with 2 mouse buttons, some status lights and power button. Touchpad of this system is spacious and responsive but it is not as good as Lenovo’s ThinkPad ones. There is a numeric keypad on the right side for people who punch a lot of numbers in Excel. Because of this keypad, the keyboard seems a bit pushed on the left and the buttons look cramped. I wasn’t really comfortable while typing on it and I’d recommend you to check it before buying.

My Dell Inspiron 15 review model had a Core i5 520M processor at 2.4 GHz, 350 GB hard drive, 4GB DDR3-1066 RAM, and for gamers, there is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330. All this hardware gave me good performance in my lab tests. For gaming, you will have to accept a few compromises on the resolution and effects. But it is still good for playing a few WoW rounds while you are waiting for a friend at the local airport.
