Envizen Digital Duo Box Pro ED8850A Review
Envizen has brought in a portable TV that is a DVD player too. Read on to check out what it is all about.
Sum and Substance:
Thumbs Up:
DivX playback, Inexpensive
Thumbs Down:
Ugly looks, Bad resolution
Inside the Trunk:
The Envizen Digital Duo Box Pro ED8850A comes along with remote, car adapter, carrying case
The Whiz Kid Speaks:
The portable TV cum DVD player has a 7 inch screen which gives 480 x 234 resolution.
Razzle Dazzle:
There is nothing about this product that is slick or cool or sexy. The manufacturer didn’t pay too much attention to its looks.
Inside Dope:
Envizen Digital Duo Box looks like a smaller version of laptop. It is very light and easy to carry around. It is meant for you to enjoy television while you are on the move or watch movies on DVDs. Or you can use this product when there are power cuts in the neighborhood.
The player is pretty bad in the looks department, but performance wise it is impressive. DivX, the format which is preferred for movie piracy, is supported in this player. The seven inch screen won’t give you the out of the box experience and the small resolution makes it look more awful. But this is all you get when you ask for a portable player. A bigger screen would have meant a bigger player and also a heavier one.
For playing TV you will have to move around your house and look for a sweet spot where you get a good signal. Chances are that you will get a good signal where there is a window or the terrace. TV experience is nowhere as good as bigger TV sets. If you live in an area where you don’t get good signal then you are out of luck. The Envizen includes a built in on screen programming guide too.
You can plug in video source like iPod, XBOX 360 or Playstation 3 in the jacks that are provided on the device. But it is no fun watching HD material on this player. It won’t do justice to the HD quality.
If you are not much of a video person you can use the Envizen Digital Duo to play MP3 files or JPEG. Audio quality is not impressive.
Although it says “portable” the player is not advised to be used in trains or buses or cars where it is constantly in motion. Envizen Digital Duo Box has enough juice to run a video for about 2.5 hours and after that you will have to recharge the battery again. A 2.5 hour battery life is little better than what other products of this kind offer.
Nitty Gritty:
Envizen Digital Duo Box has nothing appealing in it. Only thing that we were impressed with was that it supported DIVX playback. And it is not expensive too. Don’t buy this it and instead go for mp3 players or iPod. True, that the MP3 players don’t give you TV but then the experience that you get from this portable device is passable.
