Nokia 7205 Intrigue – For the fashion conscious

Looking at the phone made me think that Nokia must have worked really hard on the phone in order to make it look attractive. Nokia 7205 Intrigue is different from other phones. It doesn’t have the standard candy bar design; the device has a flap interface. The external display is quite unique, it takes full advantage of the real estate that is available here.

One thing I didn’t like about the body is that it is very glossy and hence attracts a lot of fingerprints. If you are a hygiene freak or if you love to keep your gadgets clean, I will recommend keeping a cleaning cloth close. The phone looks really ugly with all the fingerprints and smudges on it.

Nokia 7205 Intrigue looks really pretty. Open it and see it from the sides, it will look like a thin plastic sheet. There is a silver rim around the phone which contrasts very well with the black theme of the phone. It adds to the phone’s aesthetic appeal. Internal display of the phone is really bright and colorful, the resolution is good.

Beneath the display, there is the navigation array which is quite unique. It is actually a cross instead of standard square or circular toggle button. This button is flanked by two soft buttons on the sides and the standard send/end keys. The toggle took a bit of time for me to get used to. The button is slippery and hence pressing it was not as smooth as some of the other phones.

Underneath the navigation array, there are three buttons for speakerphone, camera, and the clear key. This is followed by the numeric keypad. The buttons here are separated by silver ridges and they give good tactile feedback when pressed. There are not much problems with the keyboard and I wouldn’t complained if there were problems anyways because this keypad will be used just for typing punching the phone numbers and nothing else. You certainly won’t use this keypad for typing long e-mails.

That said, I will recommend the Nokia 7205 Intrigue for people who love style and fashion. They will certainly attract stares while flaunting the phone on the streets. There are a few compromises on usability but it is certainly not a deal breaker.

On the back, there is a camera and the phone also had Bluetooth, music player and EV-DO. The latter gives you Verizon’s Vcast, Rhapsody for the music, VZ Navigator which is the GPS service from the carrier, etc. The multimedia features on the phone are more than what you usually get and so I would call this a one step above entry level phone.

The photo quality of the camera is not that good but then the camera is pretty basic and hence I won’t complain much about it. The video quality too is quite average. For storing data, there is a just 150 MB of storage space and the external memory card slot takes up to 8 gigs of cards. The memory will be used just for storing music.
