Sony NWZ-W202 W-Series Walkman – With cool ZAPPIN technology

thumbnail
Before we got this gadget in our labs for testing, we saw a few advertisements of it in local newspapers and were quite intrigued by the heart shaped design of the player. We aren’t fans of such compact music players but this design did draw our attention quite easily. The player is also extremely light weight at just 35 grams. You will barely feel it in your hands. This player has been made especially for people who like to work out a lot at the gym. There will be no cable mess and you won’t be bothered much because of the lightweight. This is not the only player we have seen in our labs to sport this design. We have had a couple like iRiver N12. Sony NWZ-W202 W-Series Walkman’s controls are hidden under the right ear module. They are all easy to reach and press but you cannot see the controls when the player cuddles up in your ears. On the bright side, you will get used to this easily as you will remember  [...]

Sony S-Series Walkman (second generation) – Same great audio quality

thumbnail
Sony made millions with the S-Series Walkman when it was released in 2008 and for its successor; the manufacturer has made the player more compact and sleek. There are plenty of useful features including a big battery life and awesome sound quality. When it comes to newer generation devices, I usually assume that it is better than the previous iteration but this is not true for the second generation Sony S-Series Walkman. The great battery life and stellar audio quality is still there but the feature set is shrunk. On the bright side, the price has been brought down. This player costs $130 for 16 GB model and the 8 GB version will cost you $110. The price along with battery life and audio quality saves the day for this player. Sony S-Series Walkman, second generation is bigger than the previous iteration. A bigger device might come in the way of portability but you get a bigger screen. This player has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen which gives bright, color  [...]

Bluefox Extreme BF-401 – For fitness freaks

thumbnail
The primary advantage of a Bluetooth headset is that you can wear it easily while you work out because they don’t come with any cable clutter. Lots of manufacturers are now giving headsets which have a sports centric design. We have also seen a Sony MP3 player based on the design where in the player is housed between the two ear modules and there is no cable clutter at all. Speaking of the design, Motorola Rokr S9 HD is the most popular in this category. Now it seems that Bluefox is trying to cash in on the popular theme with the BF-401. The headset is lightweight, the audio quality is decent and is now supports multipoint technology. The cost of this headset is $80 but it can be found cheaper online. On the right earpeice’s base, there is the battery and control of the headset. The latter consists of two rocker button; one for controlling the volume and for power while the one located at the back relates to controls of the music player. You can  [...]

Sony W-Series Walkman – Tailor made for fitness freaks

thumbnail
When we saw the ‘water resistant’ label on this player, we instantly realized that this is a player made for people who work out in the gym. Sony first gave us such headphones in 2009 and their success in the market has instigated a new model with the same design. The player is made for fitness freaks and it comes with two GB internal memory which should suffice for your gym sessions. The manufacturer has also knocked off $10 from the MSRP (as compared to its predecessor), the price is now down to $59.99 and we have no reason not to recommend this player to you. You will also love this design if you are sick of headphone cords dangling out of full fledged MP3 players. We were concerned if this player would fit well in our ears. Fortunately, it had no problems regarding this and the Sony W-Series Walkman got a secure fit in our ears. We jumped, jogged, walked and still this player refused to budge out of our ears. But we were then concerned about  [...]

Sony Handycam DCR-SR88 – Big hard drive

thumbnail
This is an entry level camcorder and records video in a built in hard drive. The highlights of this device is the small size, big storage capacity and also the megazoom lens. All this seems really tempting at a price of $400. The interface is also user friendly in spite of the menu system which seems endless. You won’t find much shooting options in here but this is not unexpected in a basic camcorder like this. Another typical features of such camcorders is the mediocre photo quality. This will be apparent if you are watching the videos on a large HDTV. Sony Handycam DCR-SR88 is recommend if you are not too concerned about the video quality and just want to shoot no matter what. The camcorder has a megazoom lens and yet fits easily in the pocket of your coat. This video recorder has 120 GB of storage space and if you don’t need this big space, then check out the SR88 which has the same features but comes with an 80 GB hard drive. The battery of the Sony Handycam DCR-SR88 protrudes  [...]

Origin EON18 – Plenty of hardware options

thumbnail
Gaming laptops were once a luxury in notebook market but things are changed now and they do give tough competition gaming consoles. There are big players out in the market like Alienware and Voodoo and the price of their products are going up as the manufacturers assume that laptop gamers can afford to spend big. Contrary to this Origin are offering more of a boutique angle to the gamers and are giving it a personalized touch, variety of components and better customer service. Origin took off in late 2008 and majority of the staff consists of ex-Alienware employees. Till now, there are laptops EON 18 and EON 15. Both of them come with lots of options for graphics card and processor and. We liked the EON 18 because it gives tons of options with regards to hardware and it still remains good for portability. But, this isn’t the only manufacturer to give customizable options for the hardware. Our test model had a black exterior but you get options for metallic or solid finish on the  [...]

Canon PowerShot A480 review – Satisfactory Low-Priced Compact Camera

thumbnail
The best introduction to Canon PowerShot A480 would be a camera with whom no one expects anything exceptional, and that is what we also will say about it. The PowerShot A480 has got basic low-end camera features and specifications, and is priced accordingly at $100. If you want to get any sort of the modern features then you will have to spend twice the price mentioned here and the same is the case with A480 as well. But in general the camera takes pretty good photos, mentioned that you keep your expectations essentially at ground levels and is modest. The PowerShot A480 comes in four color choices of red, silver, black and blue. The camera might not be huge in terms of length and width, but definitely is thicker than most of the other cameras and hence even though it will easily get into any pants pocket or small handbag, it wont be a easy fit, rather will be a squeeze. The frontage of the camera is pretty stylish, and the camera has a narrow 35mm  [...]
