Palm WebOS 1.4 – Will it fix all issues of v1.3?
Palm WebOS – mobile operating system is based on Linux kernel that supports Palm’s proprietary components. The WebOS is firstly released June 6, 2009 with Palm Pre that is first device to use this platform. The WebOS has card based platform to support multitasking and features Webkit browser, HotSync, and Synergy features.
The WebOS 1.3 has several failures due to which both Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus are getting a hit. Palm had already announced to release the WebOS 1.4 this year to fix all these problems. Finally, the Palm has released it on February 26, 2010. This update is available for U.S. through Sprint. We are expecting that every carrier will supply this update very soon.

The new operating system will enable recording, editing and sharing the videos directly via email and MMS. It also provides one-touch upload option to Facebook or YouTube under video. With the WebOS 1.4, the LED light on the top of Pixi Plus and Pre Plus will blink for email/message notification even when display is off. Moreover, it provides customizable sounds for alerting about Calendar event, Email and Messaging. You can see current time with AM/PM indication in the day view in Calendar.
You can dial and view additional numbers for a contact right away from the call log itself that eliminates the need of rapidly opening the phonebook. The new OS also allows making calls directly from message. In addition, you can select any number in message, email or Web page and press and hold it to call or text directly. You can also forward a SMS to an email address directly. Microsoft Exchange accounts are accessible through universal search like Twitter, Wikipedia, Google Maps, and Google.
What’s more – Palm WebOS 1.4 will make each application to work faster. All the applications like email application, messaging, and Calendar will launch and operates much faster than on WebOS 1.3.
You will get this update soon automatically from carrier. Also, you can avail this update from Updates app. We will prefer the Palm to provide information about any change in battery life and on Adobe Flash 10.1 for Webkit browser. Remember: Adobe had announced to develop a Flash Player version for WebOS on February 16, 2009.
