Razzle Dazzle:
Style always comes first when it is about Sony products and this notebook too follows suit. But Sony has never sacrificed functionality for good looks. Both the features exist harmoniously in Sony’s goods and we have known this for long.

Sony VAIO VGN-NW270FS has a unique look and remains comfortable and user friendly. The plastic chassis is textured, with a grooved pattern which looks like a fine wood grain, appears almost bamboo like. The textured plastic covers the lid and the keyboard deck. This model is silver; you get the same configuration in white, pink, and brown.
Inside Dope:
Let’s get straight down to the main attraction point of this laptop, the inclusion of Blu-Ray drive. Yes! This computer has one, so you can watch HD content on this computer. We watched a few blu ray movies on this computer and the display was quite crisp. But a bigger screen would have done more justice to the clear video quality.
The screen of the computer is 15.5 big which means this is a portable laptop. The screen gives you a native resolution of 1,366X768 pixels, gives 16:9 aspect ratio, which makes it good for 720p HD video. The display is not a full HD one, which will disappoint movie bluffs. Also the resolution is quite good and tiling two windows one next to the other won’t be a problem and there will be plenty of work space for you.
Below the display is the keyboard, now Sony doesn’t go with what other notebook players do in the market, Sony has its own unique keyboard and we say it rocks! The keys are not close to each other but there is adequate space in between them which means there won’t be any mishits as long as you are good at typing.
The touch pad is a little tough to get along with initially but it will work fine as you use it. The keypad gives a feel of grid of raised dots; you will get a feeling that you are rolling your fingers over sandpapers. The buttons of the track pad are also fine. The track pad is aligned towards left of the bottom half the laptop and it is not in the center.
Sony doesn’t give a separate section for media keys instead it has combined it with the F buttons on the keyboard and there are four buttons that are above the keyboard, mute, power hand web (short cut button for web browser) and display on off button.
Connectivity ports on the sides of the Sony VAIO VGN-NW270FS include a HDMI port so that you can put in a Blu-Ray disc and watch HD content by pairing up the device with a LCD TV. Along with this there is VGA port, FireWire port and three USB ports. Talking about the expansion options there is multi format media card reader and ExpressCard/34 slot.
Sony VAIO VGN-NW270FS is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 / 2.2 GHz which is pretty fast and hence gives a bad battery life. A fast processor dries up the battery pretty quickly where as a slow processor contributes to good battery life but gives slow performance.
The fast processor is good and will open applications quickly but you cannot play high end games on this processor because of absence of a discreet graphic card. The RAM on this laptop is 4 GB DDR 2 RAM of 800 MHz frequency but we would have preferred a 1066 MHz which would have got us faster speeds.
The hard disk put in is 320 GB SATA. Again we would have preferred a 500 GB considering there is a Blu-Ray drive on this notebook. The battery is low life due to the fast processor and has enough juice to power up the computer for about three and half hours.
Nitty Gritty:
Sony Vaio VGN-NW270F/S is a great computer if you want a laptop that has a Blu-Ray player so that you can watch HD entertainment while on the move. But this screen cannot take full HD video. Other than that this computer is great entertainment package. Go get this one for HD entertainment.
