Pink Phone: So Much For The Hype

thumbnail
So finally the long kept secret of Miscrosoft’s  Pink Phone has finally been unraveled. And by the looks of it this one surely doesn’t deserve all the hype being created around it. These phones have been codenamed ‘turtle’ and ‘pure’. But frankly I guess ‘chubby’ or ‘tubby’ would have been better names. The first one i.e the Turtle resembles the Palm Pre to some extent. It comes loaded with a slide out keyboard and a nice vibrant looking screen. The other one i.e. Pure will remind of possibly every other smartphone available in the market these days. Reportedly both the phones have been targeted towards the youth. Well, by the looks of it this one doesn’t look even a bit of the iPhone killer it was being touted to be. And anyways it doesn’t  look like Microsoft really cares about being the iPhone’s challenger. So any kind of clash between the Pink phones and the iPhone looks unlikely in the near future atleast. PEACE!

Windows 7: Netbook Functionality Wont Be Marred

thumbnail
The latest buzz doing the rounds here in San Francisco is that there is a Windows 7 version being launched for the netbook which in all probability will not be trickled out of most of its functionality. This means that in all there will be seven versions of the windows being launched. The news doing the round in the first half of the year was that Microsoft was likely to cut down on quite a few applications in its Windows 7 version for netbooks just because with the charge of the entire OS the pricing of the netbook would also rise to a totally new level. What is left to be seen is how Microsoft manages to adjust the Windows 7 pricing when it comes to the netbooks. However there is pressure being applied by Intel and the Original design manufacturers who build the machines and are in a tizzy over the fact that the machines would be considered inferior if the functionality is reduced. So let’s just wait n watch  [...]

Google: Chrome3.0 Unveiled

thumbnail
Well for all the Chrome fans… Google has announced the launch of the Chrome Version 3.0. Frankly there ain’t  any point getting into the number game because that doesn’t mean that Google has got any more mature than it already is, it’s probably just Google’s way of emphasizing its news features. However, most of the users wouldn’t even notice the change in the version because Google automatically updates the browser. Though most of us would agree that its one of the fastest browsers available today, with the Chrome 3.0 its performance has improved more with Google claiming to improve the Javascripts by about 150% since the launch of the original Beta version. Following Microsoft, Chrome supports themes as well now. So you could change the themes everyday by selecting from one of the 28 available themes. Also continuing with the visual tweaks, the new tab section can be easily customized  [...]

Apple TV: Hobby Turning Into Real Game???

thumbnail
Apple has always been describing its TV lineup as just another hobby and now it has cut off the 40GB model and also brought down the price of the 160GB model by around $100. So what could this exactly mean?? Is Apple planning to end its TV lineup( it has a lot of fans) or is it just devicing some other plan to take it to a different level altogether. The Apple’s site still has the 160GB model listed and also it offers a new software upgrade to its users. With the help of this software, the users can create movie wish lists and watch their favourite regional movies with subtitles. This software can be checked for by the Apple TV and it will download it automatically. However Apple has always maintained that the combined category of TV and media players is still a hobby. Also this combined genre faces tough competition from the cable set boxes and according to most analysts Apple is going through the same phase as Microsoft went through once upon a time with its Windows  [...]

Bing 2.0 Goes The Graphic Way

thumbnail
A picture often says more than what words can express, and that is exactly the idea behind the launch of the new Visual search Engine from Bing. At the TechCrunch50 senior Vice president of  Microsoft Yusuf Mehdi announced the launch of a new visual search feature with Bing2.0 which gives the results in the form of  an image gallery. Supposing you want to search for the variety of flowers then it pops up the images of the various flowers and all you have to do is click on the picture and view the related details. When you move the cursor over the image the name of the flower gets flashed into the search box. Also the image results can be sorted according to size, colour and bing popularity. The database has loads and loads of such image galleries which have been categorically arranged. According to the type of search the sorting categories also change. So incase you want to browse through cars then the sorting would take place according to release date, company  [...]

Zune HD: Exclusively For Uncle Sam

thumbnail
Zune HD which is going to be launched on September 15th will be an only U.S release. According to insiders from Microsoft, there are no plans to launch the Zune anywhere outside the U.S. The launch is going to be stateside atleast for the time being. There are also plans to launch the Zune video, a video download software in around 18 markets. Even when the Zune HD was not even named there were rumours that the new hardware would be international. But looking at the way things are taking shape at the moment, that seems unlikely. For those with a strong memory the older zune didn’t see a launch beyond Canada which took place almost two years after its launch in the U.S.

Well, the only reason I see behind this is that probably the people at Microsoft want to test the Zune on a small ground and then take the launch ahead if it is successful. Well all I hope is that this one does well, and we get to see an overseas launch soon.
