Atom has decided to lock horns with Nvidia Ion by bringing competition in the market with their own brand of chipsets with GPUs. The three processors (which come integrated with chipset) are named N450, D510 and D410 are expected to arrive in this month itself. These three promise to deliver better graphics apart from being faster and smaller.

The speed of these processors is 1.66 GHz and there will be integrated Intel NM10 Express graphics chipset. Memory controller, CPU and GPU are all integrated in one and you can expect your Netbook size to reduce by 60%. Of the three chips, the D510 and D410 are aimed at HTPCs or nettops and N450 is aimed at Netbooks. The latter has a 512 kb L2 cache and 7 W of total TDP so there will be a significant rise in the battery life too.

The D410 also comes with the same 512kb L2 cache but the TDP is of 12W. Finally, the D510 is a dual-core based processor, has TDP of 15 W and has 1 MB L2 cache. Such chipsets are great for light gamming. We have already seen this in Nvidia Ion boards, you get respectable frame rates for games like Unreal Tournament III.

Dell is definitely trying to aim at two target audiences with the launch of the Core i7 Studio XPS 8000 desktop. Not only is it trying to pull in the gamers, but the home cinema watchers as well. Well why do I say this?? Its just because this one comes loaded with 7.1 high-definition surround sound, Blu-ray player and 3D capabilities.

And that’s definitely not where the list ends. This one has an Nvidia GeForce GTS 240 Graphics Card and this coupled with the Core i7, it’s surely something worth placing your bets on. This brings along with it a spectacular gaming experience with 3D graphics. According to the makers, the curves that this one offers haven’t been put up there just for the heck of it. Apparently everything out there on display has been built for convenience and endurance. With all these features it already has many gamers going gaga over it.

This one could be yours for £799 without the monitor and if you want the whole assembled version it could cost you around £1,029.

Looks like Packard Bell is trying hard to recatapult its brand with the release of the Easynote DT85 and the Dot m/u.

Well the Easynote is surely going to have many techies drooling over it. Its got an absolutely Ki-ller set of features and specs and can easily match upto any desktop. It’s got a 18.4 inch HD monitor, a Blu-Ray drive and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. It comes loaded with a 4GB of DDR3 RAM and NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 240M graphics chip and also has a 1.25 TB hard drive on board so that you can take along your collection of movies with you. This one is expected to hit the U.K markets by the end of this month along with a $699 price tag.

Coming to the Dot m/u notebook… this one is a sleek notebook which almost less than an inch and weighs only 1400g and can easily fit into the handbag plus its lightweight as well. The Dot m/u is offered in two colours black and red. Its got a decent enough battery life of 8 hours. Also this one ain’t going to be an easy one on the pocket at $399.

Expect HP to come up with pleasant surprises at the most unexpected times. HP has announced the launch of the Mini 311 which is loaded with Nvidia’s Ion graphics processing unit which marks the entry of HP into the Graphics enabled gaming netbooks following the Acer Revo and Samsung N510.

The inclusion of the Nvidia Ion means that this one could easily play a 1080p video and could make a decent attempt at gaming. A game of Batman: Arkham asylum could be played decently on this one, obviously with reduced details. According to the people at Nvidia the Ion enabled nettop balances power in a much better way as compared to the Ultra-Low Voltage segment offered in the markets by the likes of MSI X-Slim and Samsung X-series.

According to Jeff Fisher head of the GPU department at Nvidia this move by HP is surely going to create huge waves in a market where just until the last month, netbooks were considered to be inappropriate for playing games.

Apart from the gaming features this one has a lot in store for every netbook fan and we would be coming up with a hands on review over it soon.
