Touch What You See
Seeing is believing, but I guess for the scientists at Japan the phrase could be reframed as touching is believing. At Nintendo Wii, the Japanese scientists have come up with an unique way to interact with 3D images which gives you a feeling of having touched the objects.
There are Wii-mote controllers to keep a track of the movement and also there is use of ultra sound to apply pressure so that the user feels like its touching it. So far the technology has been used only on small objects but using it to create virtual light switches is also on the cards.
Holography had always been used to give the 3D sort of an effect to the user but whenever the user used to touch the hologram, the hand used to pass right through it. But with the launch of this new technology a sensation of touch could be added to the holograms.

Well, I really cant think of many instances where this technology could come in as handy, but surely this technology added to a game would probably provide a legendary gaming experience.
